Sonny Gullage Signs with Blind Pig Records

Blind Pig Records is excited to announce the signing of rising star Kevin “Sonny” Gullage. The New Orleans, Louisiana native displays limitless potential as a soulful singer, dazzling keyboardist, and magnetic frontman.

Rock & Blues Muse proclaims Gullage is “a legitimate musical phenomenon with a huge career in front of him.” After honing his potent sound as a resident artist at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New Orleans, at the age of 20, Sonny’s career exploded. He has captivated live audiences in the U.S., Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Brussels, Slovenia, Croatia, and elsewhere, and drew more national attention during his 2022 appearances on ABC’s American Idol. Gullage, an official Hammond artist/endorser, has also appeared in movies including The Last Laugh starring Chevy Chase, and Burning Cane starring Wendell Pierce.

Jeff Schroedl of Blind Pig Records says, “Sonny has it all—he’s a stunning live performer with a huge voice, supreme piano chops, and incredible charisma. We’re thrilled to work with such a gifted artist and welcome him to the label.”

Born into a musical family, Gullage showed prodigious signs of talent at an early age. He began playing guitar before turning his focus to piano and was influenced by his interactions growing up around many artists. Sonny’s father, bassist Tony Gullage, performed with Henry Butler, Dr. John, and other prominent musicians in the Crescent City, while his grandmother, Sister Alberta Gullage, released gospel records for the Wajo label in the mid-1960s. Sonny’s family surname was originally Ledbetter, and he is also believed to be a relative of seminal blues/folk legend, and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Huddie “Lead Belly” Ledbetter.

“I am extremely excited and honored to become a member of such a legendary label,” shares Sonny. “When trying to grow in music, you want to be somewhere with people who are experienced, know good music, and have a plan. With such an amazing roster of musicians over the years, I have no doubt this will be an incredible place to grow!”

The first release under the multi-record pact is scheduled to be released later this year.
