Larry McCray Signs with Blind Pig Records
Blind Pig Records is proud to announce the signing of Larry McCray, a powerhouse Michigan-based guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter whose soul-soaked voice and blistering guitar work have made him one of the most expressive bluesmen of his generation.
Born in Smackover, Arkansas, and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, McCray has spent decades grinding it out in clubs, honing a style built on raw emotion and hard-earned mileage. Over a career spanning 11 albums, he has performed in more than 30 countries and shared stages with blues and rock royalty, including B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Albert King, the Allman Brothers, Joe Walsh, Jonny Lang, Levon Helm, and Joe Bonamassa. His work has earned him the Orville H. Gibson Male Blues Guitarist of the Year award, the "Sunshine" Sonny Payne Award for Blues Excellence, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Detroit Blues Society, and induction into the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends Hall of Fame.
Jeff Schroedl of Blind Pig Records says, “Larry is the real deal—a great singer, a phenomenal guitar player, and an artist who's spent his whole life living this music. It's an honor to welcome him to Blind Pig, and we believe this is just the beginning of something special.”
McCray shares his excitement about the signing: “Blind Pig Records has been true to the blues for a half-century and I’m proud to be associated. I look forward to creating some great records with Jeff and Blind Pig.”
Under the terms of a multi-album deal, Larry McCray's debut release for Blind Pig will be his first-ever acoustic blues album, with details on the release to follow, and more music to come.
