Heaven's Got the Blues; RIP Deborah Coleman

Heaven's got the blues today. The Blind Pig family is sad to share that guitarist, singer and songwriter Deborah Coleman has passed away at the age of 61.

A longtime staple of our label, Deborah was beloved for her fiery guitar stylings, impassioned singing and songwriting chops, all of which fueled four memorable albums for Blind Pig. One of the foremost women in blues, the Virginia native was a nine-time nominee at the W.C. Handy Blues Music Awards and won Best Blues Guitarist, Female at the Orville Gibson Awards in 2001.

Deborah could shred. She could wail. She could do it all and she will be very missed. To celebrate her life in the blues, enjoy the playlist below featuring some of her finest moments. We encourage you to listen, share and be grateful for all the music she gave us. We sure are. Thank you, Deborah.
